Heather Baus

Heather has been an East Island Art Guild member since early 2023. She owns Soap Bar PR which specializes in Hot Processed Soap Making. She learned soap making in Southern Missouri from her father in the 1970’s where she was born and raised. She now teaches classes & offers workshops in her designated studio on a beautiful rescue farm in Ceiba, PR., specializing in unscented and naturally colored, organic, “good for you soap”. Her classes are engaging, educational and fun! The experience also includes a farm & garden tour which she’s also very passionate about. She will share the history & science of soap making and provide all materials, equipment, safety gear & precautions with hands-on, in-person instruction. Students can personalize their soaps with different natural scrubs, essential oils, and dried flowers of choice during class and take home 1-2.5 lbs of soap! Heather is a retired professional corporate jet Captain/pilot and has been a full-time resident of Puerto Rico since 2000. 

 

Baus is also a soap vendor at the Palmas Del Mar farmers market. She is happily married to her wonderful husband Jim, they have one adult daughter. When not soaping she enjoys surfing, hiking, sailing, farming, gardening & friends. You can find her on Google Maps, Facebook & Instagram
